New York-based advisor firm Compound Planning announced three new hires today, including one of the founders of Aspiriant Wealth Management.

The firm, which manages about $2 billion in client assets, launched last year after the merger between RIA firm Alternativ Wealth and tech firm Compound with a goal of becoming a haven for advisors disillusioned with working for larger RIAs, said Christian Haigh, co-founder and CEO of the firm.

The firm hired Eric Flynn as executive vice president and head of wealth management, Marc Primiani as general counsel and Brent Myers as head of advisory operations.

In 2008, Primiani was a co-founder along with Tim Kochis and other prominent advisors of Los Angeles-based Aspiriant Wealth Management, a national advisor firm that has more than $15 billion in assets under management. He has also worked as an actor, with roles in movies including "Star Trek Into Darkness."

“Each one of them comes with a large amount of industry experience and expertise and so we’re excited to be able to flesh out our leadership team with them,” Haigh said.

Compound Planning has brought on more than 20 advisors this year, exceeds its stated goal of two a month when it was founded. The firm has about 70 employees, 30 of which are financial advisors, according to Haigh.

“The new leadership hires are us reinvesting in the business and making sure that we’re building out all of the roles and responsibilities that we need to be able to service the larger amount of clients that we’re now managing,” he said.

Flynn will report to Haigh and bring together advisor compliance and operations, Haigh said.

Myers will report to Flynn and be tasked with streamlining the firm’s platform, and overseeing the back office and client services teams, Haigh said.

Primiani will focus on legal and compliance issues and report to Haigh.

Flynn has more than 23 years of wealth management experience and was previously director of Alliance Management at Milwaukee-based Wipfli. He was also a principal and senior financial advisor at Wipfli Financial Advisors, where he advised high-net-worth clients and provided family office services.

Myers has more than 20 years of experience and served in leadership roles at both New York-based J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Goldman Sachs, Compound Planning said.

“He has a lot of knowledge about taking what we have, which is an early-stage, fast-growing advisory firm with a lot of technical and product talent from Silicon Valley and institutionalizing it so that we can really work well for high-net-worths and ultra-high net worths,” Haigh said.
