Edward Jones has committed $2.7 million to support national and community organizations serving the most immediate needs of those affected by Covid-19 in the cities where the company has headquarters.
The financial services company has also taken steps to assist its clients and advisors. For instance, it has created a portal on its website (www.edwardjones.com/wellness) to help clients with their physical, emotional and financial well-being during the pandemic.
“It’s all part of Edward Jones’s effort to be there for its clients with resources from experts with helpful information about taking a holistic approach to physical, emotional and financial wellness,” the firm said in a statement.
The $2.7 million will be used for national, regional and local organizations responding to the pandemic in the company’s headquarter cities of St. Louis; Tempe, Ariz., and Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Those organizations include the American Red Cross, Food Banks Canada, the United Way and local hospitals.
Edward Jones is also offering 10 additional days of paid time off to those advisors personally affected by the coronavirus and waiving deductibles for Covid-19 testing. And the company has made its financial literacy resources available to 49,000 associates and their families to help parents who are homeschooling their children.
The firm, like the country as a whole, has “faced disasters in the past, but nothing like this,” noted Chuck Orban, a branch and regional development principal at the company. Edward Jones is making plans for bringing clients back into the branch offices, which are now closed to the public, he said.
