RBC Wealth Management has added a team that managed more than $400 million at Morgan Stanley to its Westport, Conn., branch, according to a news release.

The Smalley Girardi Group is operated by first vice presidents and financial advisors Richard Smalley and Ali Girardi. The duo was with Morgan Stanley for 15 years, according to Broker check.

Prior to that, they worked together at  Citigroup Global Markets, where Girardi began his career in 1998. Smalley began his career in 1988 with Citicorp Financial Services, where he spent a few months before moving to Lebenthal & Co. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1998 and left for Citigroup in 2002, where he worked for six years before rejoining Morgan Stanley.

The duo, according to the release, was drawn to RBC because of its “high-net-worth platform and the culture.” They will report to John Moran, New York metro complex director.

“Richard and Ali’s move is an opportunity for the team to grow their business even more,” Moran said in a statement.
