LPL Financial has added a father-son team, formerly with Raymond James, to its broker-dealer, hybrid registered investment advisor and custodial platforms, according to a news release.

Steve and Jeremy Friedman, who handled $200 million in advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets, have aligned with Silverleaf Wealth Management, an existing LPL firm. They are based in Omaha. Neb.

The duo collectively has 60 years of industry experience. Steve began his career in 1968 at Dean Witter & Co., Inc., according to BrokerCheck. He worked at several other firms before landing at Wells Fargo Clearing Services in 1998, where Jeremy began his career in 2010. They moved to Raymond James in 2017.

“As a family team that has worked together for over a decade, my father and I are in lockstep about what it means to be a financial partner,” Jeremy said in a statement. “We’ve known many of our clients for years and find great fulfillment in helping them work toward their goals and financial milestones.”

He said he and his father turned to Silverleaf and LPL for the next chapter of their journey because they needed a more flexible business model that would provide their clients with the best possible resources to serve their financial objectives, the release noted.

In 2014, Jeremy transitioned to the lead role in the practice. He noted that it’s been his dream since he was a child to own his life’s work, and the move to Silverleaf, with LPL’s backing, will allow him to do that. “LPL offers the flexibility to run my business the way I want to and serve our clients’ comprehensive financial needs. Clients want a holistic approach to their finances, and with the ability to tap into experts such as CPAs and attorneys, I can give my clients differentiated service experiences and the attention they deserve,” he said.

Justin Gibson, president of Silverleaf Wealth Management, said the team is thrilled to welcome the Friedmans to the family, and honored they chose LPL as the place where their practice can evolve. “At Silverleaf, we believe our teamwork approach adds a broader perspective to all we do and provides increased benefits to our advisors and clients,” he said.

Scott Posner, LPL's executive vice president of business development, added, “We’re confident that LPL’s innovative technology and differentiated service experiences will provide a sound foundation for Jeremy and Steve’s continued growth."
