The Financial Planning Association announced Thurdsay in a news release that it has named journalist Danielle Andrus to the position of editor of the Journal of Financial Planning, effective June 1.
As editor, Andrus will oversee content development for the FPA’s publications, including the Journal of Financial Planning, the FPA Practice Management Blog and the FPA Next Generation Planner.
“For 42 years, the Journal of Financial Planning has been a leader in building the base of professional knowledge in the financial planning profession,” the association’s CEO, Patrick D. Mahoney, said in the news release. “And today, we have an excellent new editor to lead our FPA Publications Team and oversee the Journal, our flagship publication.”
Andrus has more than a decade of financial services writing and editing experience. She most recently served as managing editor of Colorado Builder magazine at Association Media Partners. Before that, she was executive managing editor for Investment Advisor Magazine, an ALM Media publication. As online editor for Summit Professional Networks, she wrote and compiled content for 14 daily, weekly and monthly newsletters for four magazines: Senior Market Advisor, Benefits Selling, Boomer Market Advisor and Bank Advisor.
Her experience publishing content for digital delivery will be key to the Journal’s future success following its transition last year to a digital environment, the FPA said. Under her editorial oversight, the association will now be able to consider new approaches that will make the Journal’ s content more accessible to association members and the broader financial planning community, the release said.
“I'm excited to join this talented team, and to help the Financial Planning Association act on new opportunities to serve its members through these time-honored publications,” Andrus said in the news release. “Financial planners play a critical role in helping their clients achieve financial security and freedom, and I'm honored to serve them.”
A 2005 graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, Andrus is currently completing a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Regis University.
Founded on January 1, 2000, the Financial Planning Association is headquartered in Denver.
