T. Rowe Price, a global investment management firm, announced it is creating an investment institute to enhance the firm’s investment talent development and to strengthen the delivery of proprietary investment insights.

Justin Thomson, head of international equity, a chief investment officer and a 26-year veteran of T. Rowe Price, has been named to head the T. Rowe Price Investment Institute, which is scheduled to launch on Jan. 1.

“The T. Rowe Price Investment Institute will be an important educational resource for our investment professionals and our clients,” Thomson said in a statement. “Risks are everywhere in the markets today. More than ever, investors and advisors need a place where they can find timely and actionable insights.”

Thomson will be responsible for creating the Institute’s charter. The institute will include a center of excellence for developing differentiated investment thought leadership and for developing internal investment talent.

T. Rowe Price said the Institute will highlight the firm’s investment research, as well as develop educational content for the firm’s investment professionals and clients. The institute also will coordinate collaborations among financial and investment experts, the company said.

During his career at T. Rowe Price, Thompson helped create the firm’s international small-cap equity strategy before stepping into his current leadership role in 2020. He also has been a contributor to T. Rowe Price’s Asset Allocation Committee for the last nine years, the firm said.

“Justin has a demonstrable record of success throughout his long tenure at T. Rowe Price,” Eric Veiel, head of global investments and a chief investment officer, said in a statement. “He was a talented portfolio manager, and he has always been an influential voice within the investment organization.”
