Protective Life Corporation, a life insurance company headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., has launched a registered investment advisor to create a family of financial service companies.

Protective will launch Concourse Financial Group on July 19, Protective announced today. The move will create an organization consisting of Protective’s insurance and financial planning affiliates, which include ProEquities, a leading independent broker-dealer and RIA; First Protective, a brokerage general agency that specializes in risk management; and Protective Distributors, a division that supports life insurance distribution.

Concourse will include an RIA, a broker-dealer, a brokerage general agency and a protection-focused point-of-solution organization.

Doyle Williams, a financial services professional with 40 years of experience in building and growing business in both the insurance and wealth management segments, will be CEO of Concourse. He is now senior vice president of distribution companies with Protective.

Libet Anderson will be president of investment solutions. She is now president of ProEquities and has held leadership roles at Edward Jones and Sterne Agee Asset Management.

Brad Mendenhall will be president of insurance solutions. Currently, he is vice president and managing director of Protective Distributors. Prior to joining Protective Distributors, Mendenhall was the vice president and national sales director at Lincoln Financial Distributors.

David Perry will be chief operations office. He now is chief operations officer for Protective Distribution Companies. He previously served as chief financial officer for the State of Alabama.

Darren Guerrera will be chief financial officer. He is now chief financial officer of ProEquities. Prior to joining ProEquities, Darren was Division Finance Manager at BBVA Securities.

The creation of Concourse, working along with the other firms, is designed to “drive increased scale and seamless integration, resulting in enhanced capabilities, better service and more coordinated expertise to support financial professionals,” Protective said in a statement. “Concourse will offer integrated services, enhanced capabilities and valuable expertise in the following areas: insurance services, comprehensive financial planning, investment services and practice management.”
