Indonesia is building a new capital east of Borneo, but retirees can still afford to rent a one-bedroom apartment in the current capital of Jakarta for under $400 a month. Retirees age 55 and older can apply for a retirement visa if they have proof of income or a pension, health insurance, a housing lease agreement and domestic help.
