The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) has named a new chair-elect for 2022-23.

Wendy Hartman, president of Buckingham Strategic Wealth in St. Louis, previously served as board member for the organization's Midwest region board and currently serves as the association's secretary-treasurer.

Hartman will take her role as chair-elect on Sept. 1, the start of NAPFA’s fiscal year, the organization said. NAPFA, founded in 1983, is an association of fee-only financial planners that provides support to 4,400 practitioners, according to the group's website.

“I am so pleased that Wendy was selected as NAPFA chair-elect," NAPFA Chairperson Karla McAvoy said in a prepared statement. "As a seasoned advisor and firm executive, she brings an unparalleled level of experience to this role. She has proven herself to be a thoughtful leader during her board service and exudes a kindness and inclusiveness that will help the NAPFA thrive under her stewardship. She is passionate about fee-only financial planning and NAPFA, and we are immensely fortunate to have her as a leader in the community.”

Hartman, a CFP certificate holder, received a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University and an M.B.A. from Saint Louis University, according to a board press release. She started her career as a wealth advisor and served as a strategic advisor at Enterprise Trust Company, a portfolio analyst with First Banks Inc. She also worked as an equity analyst for Bank of America Capital Management.

Hartman has been with Buckingham Strategic Wealth since 2010.

“I am honored to have been named chair-elect and to continue my volunteer service and presence on the NAPFA Board of Directors,” Hartman said in a prepared statement. “I am grateful to work alongside so many who are as passionate around the impact in our growing professional community and to be a key driver in our forward progress! I have truly enjoyed my involvement with NAPFA on many levels and it is a rewarding experience to see the great strides we are making on all levels of professional education, consumer awareness, and the client experience.”
