Rockefeller Capital Management has recruited a Merrill Lynch team in Chicago with $550 in assets under management, as it expands its private wealth management platform across the Central division, the company announced today.

CM Private Wealth, a Northbrook-based private wealth team, is led by Bill Colwyn and Dan Mendelson, who both join as managing directors and private wealth advisors. Also joining them are team chief operating officer, Michelle McCabe.

Chris Randazzo, president of private wealth management for Rockefeller Capital Management, said there is a steadily growing need for entrepreneurial advisors who can offer customized solutions to clients with complex financial lives and challenges. “Rockefeller is meeting this need in an increasing number of locations with the industry’s finest advisors like CM Private Wealth, and with our unique platform of investment solutions and services,” he said in a statement.”

Chris Dupuy, national field director for Rockefeller’s private wealth management practice said they are looking forward to growing their presence in the area, and to delivering the unique Rockefeller experience to clients in the Chicago area and beyond. “We’re excited to have Bill, Dan, and Michelle helping to lead the way as we expand into this critical new market,” he said.

New York City-based Rockefeller Capital, an offshoot of Rockefeller & Co., was created in 2018 and is backed by hedge fund Viking Global Investors. With the addition of CM Private Wealth group, Rockefeller’s private wealth practice has 40 teams across the U.S., 25 of which joined in 2020.
