Three CFP professionals have filed for personal bankruptcy, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards announced yesterday.
The bankruptcies were filed by Michael W. Basile of Chicago and Rebecca A. Muia of Pittsburgh. both in December, and by Michael E. Camferdam of Pensacola, Fla., in February 2018.
The CFP Board discloses bankruptcies on the CFP professional’s public profile on the organization’s website and informs consumers and other stakeholders who contact the board about an advisor. The information remains on the CFP Board website for 10 years and is made available to help consumers make decisions about hiring planners, the board said.
