Tim Kober, founding principal of Cedar Financial Advisors LLC, an independent financial planning firm in Portland, Ore., has been elected board chairman of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors starting in September, NAPFA announced Wednesday.

Kober, who will replace Frank Moore as chairman, will serve as chair-elect until that time. He specializes in providing fee-only financial planning, retirement planning and wealth management services to individuals and families.

“I feel honored to have been chosen to represent NAPFA members at this level,” Kober says. “I have always recognized the critical need for financial advice delivered under a fiduciary standard, and as the NAPFA board chair, it will be my goal to continue NAPFA’s efforts to promote the benefits of fee-only financial planning.”

Kober previously served as director of strategic planning and in other senior management positions at Intel Corporation.
