With the holidays fast approaching, retailers have been rolling out their Black Friday deals. In an effort to assist shoppers in maximizing their savings, Wallethub surveyed 10,000 shopping deals from 35 of the largest U.S. retailers’ 2017 Black Friday ad scans.

The stores were rated based on deals offered in product categories including apparel and accessories, computers and phones, consumer electronics, consumer packaged goods, toys, appliances, jewelry, furniture, video games and books movies and music. The discounts were weighted so that higher ticket items received the appropriate credit.

The following is a list of the retailers offering the best black Friday Deals this holiday season.

No. 10: AAFES

Average Discount 37.3%

The Army and Air Force Military Exchange is the retailer found on U.S. Army and Air Force bases worldwide. This retailer offers a wide variety of products from apparel to appliances for the home. These products are offered exclusively to military personnel. The AAFES scored highest in discounts offered on appliances with an average of 40.60 percent.

 

No. 9: Fred Meyer

Average Discount 43.9%

Fred Meyer is a grocery supercenter owned by The Kroger Group. These super centers offer groceries, apparel, electronics, pharmacy, furniture and a variety of household items. According to the study, Fred Meyer is offering the highest discount on furniture at 64.32 percent, far above the product category's discount average of 41.60 percent.

 

No 8: Macy's

Average Discount: 45.6%

Macy’s has announced this year it will open it’s doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and continue Black Friday deals through Saturday, November 25, at 1 p.m., according to Forbes Magazine. Macy’s is offering its highest discounts of 56.46 percent on "all other products."

 

No. 7: Sears

Average Discount: 50.1%

Sears has gotten an early start with its Black Friday deals this year. Although the business has struggled over the years, Sears began many of its Black Friday sales on November 1, according to Business Insider. Sears will be offering some of its steepest discounts on jewelry, with price cuts up to 74 percent, according to the study.

 

No 6: Bealls Florida

Average Discount: 52.8%

Bealls Florida has over 70 locations in the state of Florida. This southern based department store scored second highest in the product category of consumer packaged goods with an average discount of 59.28 percent.

 

No. 5: Shopko

Average discount: 55.9%

Shopko is a chain of department stores based in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. Shopko scored number 1 in both appliances (50.77%) and apparel and accessories (62.78%), offering the steepest discounts in each of these categories of any other retailer included in the study. 

 

No. 4: Stage

Average Discount: 60.8%

Stage stores are a collection of retail stores offering discounted brand name apparel. The company’s five brands, including Stage, Bealls, Goody's, Palais Royal and Peebles, were reviewed in the study. Stage will be offering the best deals on computers and phones this Black Friday with an average discount of 64.38 percent, the highest in the product category. 

 

No 3:  Belk

Average discount: 62.8%

Belk is a department store with locations in 16 states across the US. Belk scored in the top five for 6 out of 11 major product categories, including apparel (57.07%), consumer electronics (54.56%), consumer-packaged goods (49.98%), toys (53.25%), appliances (46.93%), and all other product categories (65.04%). 

 

No 2: JCPenney

Average discount: 66.3%

JCPenny is starting Black Friday even earlier this year at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, according to CNBC, and ranked no. 2 overall with an average discount of 66.3 percent.

 

No. 1: Kohl’s

Average discount: 66.3%

Kohls is leading the pack in Black Friday discounts this year. The average savings in Kohl's stores this season is 66.3 percent, with jewelry discounts up to 77.39 percent. Customers can start their shopping even earlier this year on Monday November 20, online according to Business Insider.
