Advisors will converge on the nation’s capital next week—not to lobby federal agencies and Congress over the state of financial regulations, but to discuss the state of their industry at Charles Schwab’s IMPACT 2018 conference.

Between Sunday and Wednesday, speakers including historian Niall Ferguson, former White House chief of staff Andrew Card, chef José Andrés and author and model Padma Lakshmi will address an audience of financial advisors at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The conference will include dozens of educational breakout sessions offering continuing education credits to attendees on topics ranging from longevity to planning software and from marketing techniques to compliance issues.

Schwab’s leadership, including president and CEO Walt Bettinger; Bernie Clark, head of advisor services; Liz Ann Sonders, chief investment strategist; and Jeffrey Kleintop, global chief investment strategist, will also address attendees.

Charles Schwab will also recognize the winners of its 2018 IMPACT awards for independent advisors. Honors will include the Best-in-Business IMPACT Award, the Best-in-Retirement Business IMPACT Award, the Pacesetter IMPACT Award and the Trailblazer IMPACT Award.

Advisors will be treated to entertainment, drinks and food in the historic Union Station during the conference’s Final Night Event on Tuesday.
