Financial advisor Ryan Thompson, MBA, has joined the Ameriprise Financial independent channel, the company announced today in a news release.
Thompson was formerly employed with Morgan Stanley in Shreveport, La., where he managed approximately $110 million in client assets.
After spending six years as an employee advisor, Thompson spent the past year reviewing opportunities to rejoin an independent platform before ultimately deciding that a move to Ameriprise was in his best interest and that of his clients. With support from his Ameriprise transition team and local field leader, Senior Field Vice President Michael Barker, MBA, Thompson said he was able to focus on advising clients and building his business, while leaving the operational minutia of running it to Ameriprise.
“It’s clear they know how to facilitate transitions professionally and efficiently, which includes handling all the operations and setup steps so that I can stay focused on serving my clients,” he said in the news release. “I expected there to be more of a learning curve when changing firms. I’m pleasantly surprised by the ease of plugging into Ameriprise’s systems and facilitating business with clients.”
