Financial advisor Jason Williams has joined The Myrias Group, a member firm of the Ameriprise Financial independent channel, led by private wealth advisor John Everson, the companies announced today in a news release.

Williams was formerly with BB&T Securities LLC in Winchester, Va., where he managed nearly $200 million in client assets.

Williams began looking at other options after a merger at his former affiliate firm led him to believe that the change was not in his or his high-net-worth clients’ best interests. He started his search by evaluating each potential partner’s culture and services, before finally deciding to entrust Ameriprise and The Myrias Group with his business.

“The decision to move firms after 27 years is all about finding the best home for my clients,” he said in the news release. “I found Ameriprise values the clients I’ve built relationships with and gives me the flexibility to continue providing them excellent service.”

Established in 2015, The Myrias Group manages $850 million in client assets and has five offices across Virginia and West Virginia. The practice also includes private wealth advisors Andy Huggins and Stewart Barnes, 11 other financial advisors, and nine support staff members.

“John and his team have the same focus I do, which is to help clients build and sustain wealth, and confidently achieve the goals that matter most to them,” Williams said in the news release. “The team takes a highly collaborative approach to solving client needs, which is what I wanted for my clients.”

Founded in 1894, Ameriprise Financial Inc., is a diversified financial services company and bank holding company incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn.
