F.L.Putnam, an investment management company for high-net-worth individuals, family offices and institutions, has taken steps to put more alternative investments in the hands of investors.

The firm launched an investment research platform for RIAs through Atrato Advisors, an alternative consulting investment firm that F.L. Putnam acquired in August 2021. The launch of the alternative platform gives advisors access to proprietary third-party research on private and public market managers and allows advisors to invest directly in alternatives.

“There is a large and growing universe of RIAs that want to allocate capital to alternatives in particular but they don’t have the resources to access, do the due diligence, or execute direct investments in alternatives on behalf of their clients. This platform gives them an end-to-end solution to do just that,” F.L. Putnam said. F.L.Putnam collaborated with +SUBSCRIBE, a software provider for the financial services industry, to create the platform.

The new platform provides RIAs with access to Atrato’s proprietary investment manager research on a curated list of private equity, private real estate, private credit, venture capital, hedge funds, and public market strategies on which the due diligence has been completed, F.L.Putnam said in an email.

“This solution, unlike other platforms, is entirely open architecture. F.L.Putnam does not share the fees of fund managers and is not confined to large firms. The platform can be customized to include funds that RIA's currently allocate to, ensuring continuity of the investment process,” F.L.Putnam said. “F.L.Putnam is giving RIAs access to investment strategies and funds that they believe are best in breed within their categories.”

The fee for the service depends on what the RIA needs and starts at $25,000 for a customized list of potential investments on which the due diligence has been completed. Public markets investment manager research, as well as F.L.Putnam’s capital markets research, and asset allocation commentary also are available on the platform.

“As RIAs grow and scale, the need for sophisticated investment advice, tools, and capabilities increases exponentially,” Tom Manning, CEO of F.L.Putnam, said in a statement. “With our platform, advisors will have access to a fully customizable, state-of-the-art solution that allows them to research and confidently allocate to alternative investments on behalf of their clients.”

Through the +SUBSCRIBE software, RIAs will be able to easily review Atrato’s initial and ongoing manager due diligence, gain access to the manager’s data room of fund materials, and easily execute transactions through a tailored menu of alternative investments all in a single place, F.L.Putnam said.

“This initiative delivers a unified platform for all of an advisor’s private market funds, simplifies their due diligence process, and automates the operational aspects of investing in alternative investments,” Rafay Farooqui, founder and CEO of +SUBSCRIBE, added in a statement.
