Altfest Personal Wealth Management, an independent financial advisory firm based in New York with $1.3 billion in assets under management, has promoted Andrew Altfest to the position of president and principal advisor.

Altfest joined the firm as an investment analyst in 2003. In 2008, the firm promoted him to the position of managing director, executive vice president. In his new position as president and principal advisor, Altfest will oversee the company’s nearly 40 employees while also advising clients about their personal finances. As an active member of Altfest’s investment committee and the portfolio action group, Altfest will work with team members to develop client investment strategies while leading the firm’s efforts in the tax management of investment portfolios and charitable contributions.

Lewis J. Altfest, CEO, said Altfest has spearheaded a number of initiatives to expand the firm over the past 16 years, including the launch of private equity solutions and direction of the firm’s Young Professional Group, aimed at millennials. In his new position as president, Altfest said he would expand the digital technology mandate he introduced at the firm through the acquisition of cutting-edge technology that will further promote the financial well-being of its clients.

Altfest graduated with honors from Cornell University, where he earned a B.A. degree in English. He received his MBA from Columbia Business School. He is chair of the New York City chapter of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).
