New York-based digital alternatives platform iCapital Network has appointed Thomas Fortin as managing partner and chief operating officer.

Fortin joins iCapital from BlackRock, where he was head of retail technology in the BlackRock Solutions Group after serving as the company’s chief information officer and leading the Aladdin development team from 2002 to 2011.

While at BlackRock, Fortin was a member of the company’s Global Operating and Corporate Risk Management committees. He drove the acquisition of the FutureAdvisor robo-platform and the integration of Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Barclays Global Investors into BlackRock’s business..

iCapital has more than $2 billion in assets across more than 40 private offerings for about 3,000 investors.
