The report found that 19 percent of baby boomers, 19 percent of  Gen Xers and 18 percent of millennials own a Roth IRA, along with 16 percent of silent generation consumers. Forty-three percent of these consumers said they purchased a Roth IRA because their financial advisor recommended it. In contrast, only 23 percent of traditional IRA owners purchased their product because of an advisor’s recommendation.

Three in 10 Roth IRA owners, the study found, want  a mix of pre- and post-tax retirement savings, the survey said.
