The
Internal Revenue Service has reached an agreement with the CFP Board of
Standards to provide continuing education credits at IRS Nationwide Tax
Forums this summer.
It marks the first
time the IRS will register as a CFP continuing education sponsor-a role
it has filled for agents and accountants.
Twenty-four of the
36 seminars at each tax forum are eligible for the CFP credits, with
topics including tax law changes, retirement plans, health care credits
and ethics.
The IRS Nationwide Tax Forums will be held in six cities this summer:
Anaheim, Calif. - June 27-29
Chicago - July 11-13
Atlanta - July 25-27
Orlando, Fla. - August 1-3
Las Vegas - August 22-24
New York - August 29-31
The three-day
forums offer the latest word from the IRS on tax law, compliance and
ethics, as well as the opportunity to interact with IRS executives and
specialists. Attendees can also consult with software vendors and tax
service providers and meet with representatives of numerous
professional organizations.
