Morningstar Inc. has partnered with Pyxis Mobile-a provider of wireless
software for the financial services industry-to deliver Morningstar
data to fund wholesalers through their mobile devices.
Under the
partnership, Morningstar's mutual fund and exchange-traded fund data
will be made available to fund wholesalers who use Pyxis's mWholesaler
software. The software gives users the ability to access and analyze
the data with handheld wireless devices such as the Blackberry and
Windows Mobile-powered devices.
The program, called Morningstar Mobile for Wholesalers, will be available in May.
The wireless
service will allow wholesalers to access Morningstar's database of
78,000 mutual funds and 700 ETFs.
"Morningstar
Mobile is designed to help increase wholesalers' productivity by
untethering them from their desks for investment analytics, allowing
them to spend more time in the field visiting clients and prospects,"
according to a Morningstar press release.
