The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards has imposed an automatic interim suspension of the right of Larry J. Templin of Temple, Texas, to use the CFP designation because he is charged with bank fraud, the CFP Board announced Friday.

The right to use the designation was imposed after the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority barred Templin from the financial industry after he was charged with bank fraud. The official action of Finra is known as a Letter of Acceptance, Waiver and Consent, which says Templin violated Finra rules.

Templin refused to produce information requested by FINRA staff in connection with the bank fraud charges, the letter said. Additional information on the fraud charges was not immediately available. He worked as a broker and advisor for Centaurus Financial in Temple, Texas, from 2008 until 2018.

Under the automatic interim suspension, Templin’s right to use the CFP certification is suspended pending further investigation.
