Quartararo, who entered the financial industry in 2000, has worked for more than a dozen companies, four of which were expelled by Finra, according to his BrokerCheck profile. He did not spend more than a year at most of those companies.

He was barred by Finra in September 2012 for taking funds from acquaintances and falsely representing that he would invest in penny stocks. Instead, he deposited the money in his personal bank accounts and used it for his own purpose, Finra said. Finra said he also failed to respond to requests for information and to appear for testimony.

If convicted on the second-degree grand larceny count, Quartararo faces five to 15 years in prison. He is due back in court on October 20.
