Bloomberg has named 52 financial services companies worldwide that have made strides in hiring and promoting women.

The 2017 Financial Services Gender Equality Index provides investors insight into the companies promoting gender equality, says Bloomberg.

"Companies are increasingly focused on managing operational risks, including the attraction and retention of employees," said Angela Sun, head of strategy and corporate development at Bloomberg, in a statement. "As investors look for new drivers of risk-aware alpha, the demand for data around gender equality and other social and governance metrics continues to grow.”

The companies named have an average of 24 percent female representation on boards. Nearly three-quarters of the firms require a gender-diverse slate of candidates for management roles.

Eighty-three offer financial education programs for women in their communities and three-quarters provide return to work programs for women.

The first report of this nature was issued last year when 26 companies were named. A complete list of this year’s companies can be found here.
