Brix Wealth Management and KAP Planning, both part of the Barnum Financial Group, have agreed to merge.

Brix first opened for business in 1988 as the Tornberg Agency, and became the Hurley Financial Group in 2010 after a change in ownership. The company later rebranded as Brix Wealth Management. It is located in New York City.

Garrett Hurley, CEO and founder of Brix Wealth Management, said that the company serves business owners, entrepreneurs and C-level executives with complex financial, tax or insurance needs.

KAP Planning, founded in New York in 1981, offers insurance planning, policy reviews, underwriting advocacy, and estate planning and wealth preservation services. The company is also located in New York City.

Jared S. Levy, managing partner at KAP, indicated that the merger was a natural fit. He said that both firms were similar in size and culture, and that their strengths complemented one another.

The new group will be known as Brix Partners when the merger is completed and will have offices in New York City.

Founded in 1950, the Barnum Financial Group is headquartered in Shelton, Conn. The company provides a full range of investment and risk management products and services.
