The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. today announced it has approved an online Master of Science degree and a certificate-level program in personal financial planning being offered by the College for Financial Planning.

“Students can now earn their CFP and Master’s along the same path with the Master’s program,” said Dirk Pantone, president of the College for Financial Planning, in a news release. “A student could be in our Master’s program, take our first five modules, and now have their education requirement fulfilled.”

In addition to its CFP Certification Professional Education Program, the college also offers a master’s degree in personal financial planning and professional designation programs that provide more in-depth knowledge of the finance industry, with specializations ranging from asset management and retirement planning to sustainable, responsible, and impact (SRI) investments.

The College for Financial Planning first introduced the certified financial planner certification shortly after its founding in 1972. In 2017, it was bought by Kaplan Professional Education, a unit of global education provider Kaplan Inc.

The CFP Board is a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., that fosters professional standards in personal financial planning.
