Claudia Cypher Kane has taken the reins as president of the Financial Planning Association for 2024.

A financial adviser since 1985, Kane is an independent adviser with Raymond James Financial Services in Roseville, Calif., where she provides financial planning, strategic asset allocation and tax-efficient money management for individuals, fiduciaries and small businesses.

Kane completed a four-year FPA Board of Directors term in December 2023. She also served as the 2022 FPA Treasurer and volunteer leader of the FPA Finance Committee.

Her term began Jan. 1.

“FPA has been an influential force in my career by providing me with a community of professionals who are eager to share best practices and experiences that have shaped my practice of financial planning,” Kane said in a statement. “I’m eager to work to support the association’s mission and vision while providing our Members and chapters with an indispensable experience that will support them in their careers and businesses.”

In addition to her service on the FPA Board of Directors, Kane was leader of the FPA of Northern California chapter and of the FPA of California, a coalition of FPA chapters throughout the state. She has also served in various volunteer roles and on numerous national FPA committees.

She has been involved in exam writing for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and the Investments and Wealth Institute. She is an active member of the Investments and Wealth Institute and previously served on its Board of Directors. Kane has also served in various community leadership positions, including as president of the Court Appointed Special Advocates of El Dorado County in California.

Besides being a CFP, Kane, she holds the certified private wealth advisor, certified investment management analyst, accredited domestic partnership advisor, and certified divorce financial analyst designations.

"Financial planning is truly a helping profession, and those who have committed their professional lives to financial planning believe strongly in service — service to their clients and service to those in society who don't typically have access to the knowledge and skill that financial planners provide,” Kane said in a statement. “I hope to use this platform over the next year to encourage more financial planners to engage in service to others, whether through volunteer leadership, engaging in pro bono financial planning, or building the financial wellness of underserved communities."
