The Colony Group, an independent financial advisory firm, is merging with Jones Barclay Boston, an RIA based in Denver that focuses on advising professional athletes and entertainment professionals, Focus Financial Partners announced Tuesday.
The merger allows Colony to expand its presence from the East Coast to Colorado. Colony now has offices in Massachusetts, New York, Virginia and Florida and has $5.5 billion in assets. Colony is a member of the Focus Financial Partners network.
Jones Barclay Boston, which had $315 million in AUM, will remain in Denver and operate under the Colony name. The firm was founded by Craig Jones, Ian Barclay and Mike Boston. Jones and Barclay will serve as managing directors of the Rocky Mountain region and as co-presidents of Colony Sports and Entertainment. Boston will remain through a transition period as a consultant.
