Commonwealth Financial Network, a privately held registered investment advisor and independent broker-dealer, announced that Integrated Equity Management (IEM) of Bloomington, Ind., has joined its network of independent financial advisors.
The firm brings over $700 million in client assets, according to a press release. It was the second firm this week that Commonwealth announced had joined from Bloomington, a city of about 85,000 that is southwest of Indianapolis and home to Indiana University.
Formerly affiliated with Securian Financial Services, Ted Smith, IEM's president and CEO, has been a financial advisor since 1977. He began at North Star Resource Group prior to founding IEM in 1984, where he practiced for 35 years.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in business finance and marketing and holds Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC) designations.
His daughter, Camille Smith, is IEM's managing director and chief strategist, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Busines, and an International MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. Independent of her father, Camille Smith founded reVive Consulting, a business consulting firm, in 2003.
