Financial advisor Russell Smith, based in Downers Grove, Ill., has joined the Ameriprise Financial Inc. branch channel, the company said. Ameriprise Complex Director Jay Hubbard will support Smith’s practice.
Smith was formerly with Edward Jones, which he joined two decades ago. Upon deciding to make the switch to Ameriprise with client service associate Sheila Lindsay, who also has 20 years of industry experience, the Smith team was overseeing approximately $150 million in client assets.
“I worked hard to build my practice,” Smith said in a news release announcing his move to Ameriprise. “It was crucial that my next firm could provide an efficient transition. Ameriprise has extensive experience in facilitating advisor moves, and so my clients were able to make a smooth transition.”
According to Smith, his decision to exit Edward Jones for Ameriprise gives his practice access to more resources and financial products that better meet the needs of his high-net-worth clientele, while also enabling him to accelerate the growth of his business in service to them.
“After thorough research, I was impressed with Ameriprise’s intense focus on championing the advisor-client relationship,” he said in the news release. “The firm has a large toolbox full of intuitive technology and a wide variety of products to support the way I want to work with my clients.”
Bobbie Hageman, Ameriprise vice president of Advisor Transitions and Acquisition Program Management, said she and her team worked closely with Smith and his team on the transition to make it a success.
