A 2019 study from MetLife indicated that loss of financial stability is employees’ primary source of stress, noted Ward.

Research published in 2016 by Financial Finesse found that employees suffering from overwhelming financial stress or struggling to maintain financial stability incur immediate and future financial costs for their employer. This includes absenteeism, wage garnishment, retirement plan loans and hardship withdrawals. That study also found that women were more likely than men to report financial stress, said Ward.
