A former Texas-based broker has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for repeated sexual assault of a child, according to published reports.

Gregory Frank Estes, 59, of San Angelo, Texas, was found guilty of two first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child last week by a jury in Taylor County, which is about 100 miles west of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. He also was fined $1,000.

Estes was facing 10 charges, including seven first degree felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, one count of second degree felony of sexual assault of a child, and two counts of second degree felonies of indecency of a child by contact.

According to local news reports, Estes, most recently with SA Stone Wealth Management Inc., was convicted on the two counts after eight days and nearly 11 hours of deliberation by the jury.

The reports said the case drew significant attention because Estes was a prominent figure in the San Angelo community, having been in the securities industry for more than three decades, and a leader in Life Church, formerly known as Tree of Life Church (TLC).

Estes was indicted in January 2021 in on two counts each of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child (sexual contact). Local reports said Estes was charged with sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14 in 2001, 2004 and 2009. Estes was on probation for attempted sexual assault in Tom Green County at the time of the 2004 and 2009 alleged assaults, the reports said.

The evidence in the most recent case included testimony from five women who claimed they were also assaulted by Estes, according to the news website San Angelo LIVE!

According to BrokerCheck, Estes was convicted of attempted sexual assault in September 2002 and placed on 10 years’ probation in October and fined $1,000. At the time, his response on BrokerCheck was the following: “This matter is blown out of proportion. Instead of defending a long, drawn-out process, I accepted probation and a fine.”

Estes had been at SA Stone Wealth Management from 2012 to 2021. He began in the industry in 1987 with Advantage Capital Corporation. He was affiliated with three other firms, including Princor Financial Services Corporation, Walnut Street Securities and Synergy Investment Group.
