“Success breeds more success,” Barton said, “and for the past two and a half years we have been very active [and] we have many more deals in the pipeline. There are an inordinate number of sellers out there because of the evolution of the business and because sellers realize this is the top of the market.”
Mercer does not have a hard target in mind for acquisitions in the future, but is always looking for like-minded firms that are fee-only and fiduciary-minded, he said.
