Financial advisor Amy S. Lawrence has joined LPL Financial’s broker-dealer, RIA and custodial platforms to launch Gorilla Investments Co., a Miami-based independent practice, LPL said yesterday.

Lawrence was formerly with Bank of America Private Bank, where she oversaw about $475 million in client assets. Since 2016, Lawrence has scaled her practice by working closely with private business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and affluent families, according to a news release announcing the affiliation. She specializes in providing succession planning and exit strategies, as well as professional oversight to support post-sale wealth management needs.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said in a prepared statement that Lawrence and her team, which includes her husband, Client Relationship Manager Rey Lawrence, would enhance business in his city.

“The commitment of Amy and her team to providing exceptional financial services aligns perfectly with our vision to become the ‘Capital of Capital,’ he said. “Together, we’ll continue to foster a thriving ecosystem that attracts top talent and drives economic prosperity.”

Lawrence said in the release that she named the firm Gorilla Investments to represent the strength of the financial services she provides to her client base of high-net-worth investors.

“We focus on what makes each client’s wealth journey unique and then empower them with the right strategy and plan for them,” she said. “We are committed to being there for our clients every step of the way, supporting them as they navigate complex life choices and relationships.”

Lawrence said LPL was the best fit for her clients and their business.

“With LPL, we have access to a wider range of offerings, resources, innovative tools, and capabilities that will increase both the speed and quality of our services,” she said in the release.

Lawrence serves as president of the Miami Finance Forum, and is Southeast regional director of the Hedge Fund Association.

Headquartered in Fort Mill, S.C., San Diego and Boston, LPL Financial supports more than 21,000 financial advisors nationwide.
