Financial Advisors Scott Hartman and Adam Johnston, based in Elkhart County, Ind., have affiliated with Financial Partners Inc., a firm based in Red Bank, N.J., that’s part of the Exemplar Financial Network, to join LPL Financial’s broker-dealer, RIA, and custodial platforms with about $375 million in client assets, the companies said.

In a prepared statement, Cory E. Marlow, president of Financial Partners Inc., said that the new partnership will be mutually beneficial for all parties to it.

“With the addition of their team, we believe we are now one of the area’s most comprehensive and robust financial planning and wealth management organizations,” he said. “In addition to expanding our footprint to Fort Wayne, Ind., Warsaw, Ind., and the greater Chicagoland areas, the new synergy our team delivers should make for a very bright future for both our clients and our entire organization.”

Johnston, who has worked in the financial services industry since 2004, and Hartman, in the industry since 2008, have worked together as a team for about 13 years. They and account manager Destinee Chupp are joining Financial Partners and LPL from Cetera Investment Advisors, headquartered in El Segundo, Calif.

According to Hartman, the practice prides itself on getting to know each of its clients and their families in order to custom-design a wealth management plan and personalized investment strategy for each stage of their financial lives.

“Our entire focus is to help take care of our clients and their families, and we do that by getting to know each person on a deeper level,” Hartman said in a news release. “We understand that no one strategy fits everyone, which is why every client gets our undivided attention - from planning to execution to follow-up.”

Johnston said in the news release that he and Hartman had decided to switch to a new affiliate so they could accomplish two goals to the benefit of their clients.

“We had been in a bank setting, but we needed more independence and control as we take steps to expand relationships and enhance our offerings,” Johnston said. “We’ve known Cory at Financial Partners for a while, and have been impressed with the direction of his company. As we got to know more about Exemplar and LPL, we realized they were the ideal partners to help us elevate the client service experience.”

Johnston said that as a result of his and Hartman’s decision to join new partners, their practice now operates as a family-type office with local resources, backed by LPL’s cutting edge technology and expanded investment options.

“It’s a win-win for our business and our clients,” he said in the news release.

Headquartered in Fort Mill, S.C., San Diego, and Boston, LPL Financial supports more than 21,000 financial advisors nationwide.
