Latino financial planners have a new home within the Financial Planning Association with the creation of the Latino Knowledge Circle.
The new program will bring together financial planning professionals of Latino descent so they can share ideas, engage in professional development and promote the profession within the Latino community, the FPA announced Thursday.
“Through FPA’s vision to elevate the profession that transforms lives through the power of financial planning, we are enthusiastic about fostering like-minded communities, like our Latino Knowledge Circle,” said Lauren M. Schadle, FPA executive director and CEO, in a statement.
Over the next 12 months, the FPA Latino Knowledge Circle will host a series of webinars focusing on mentorship, emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, leadership and more.
“The FPA Latino Knowledge Circle will be the place where Latinos can find each other, [develop] their voice in the profession, and help build a community to support one another,” added Louis Barajas, an FPA member and Latino planner who is now part of the Latino Knowledge Circle.
There are now 12 knowledge circles that bring advisors together around common interests and enable like-minded professionals to connect globally with their peers, FPA said. More than 4,700 FPA members now are participating in knowledge circles that focus on such things as investment planning, international and cross-border investing, LGBT planners, retirement planning and women in planning.
