The Financial Services Institute (FSI) has elected five new members to its 18-member Board of Directors, FSI announced Wednesday.

New board members are Kent Christian, president, Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo.; Shawn McLaughlin, president and CEO, McLaughlin Ryder Investments, Alexandria, Va.; James Poer, president and CEO, NFP Advisor Services, Austin, Texas; Kimberly Kropp, owner, Moylan Kropp Retirement Planning, Omaha, Neb., and Bill Dowell, founder and president, Vision Financial Group, Marlboro Township, N.J.

In addition, FSI elected board members to leadership positions for 2016. Amy Webber, president of Cambridge Investment Research, Fairfield, Iowa, is chair of the board; Richard Lampen, president and CEO of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services, headquartered in Miami, is vice chair of the board for 2016 and will be chairman for 2017; David Knoch, president and chief operating officer of 1st Global, Dallas, is Finance Committee chair, and Dean Harman, founder and CEO of Harman Wealth Management, The Woodlands, Texas, is FSI Political Action Committee board chair.

FSI represents independent financial advisors and independent financial services firms.
