Genstar is a San Francisco-based private equity firm that invests primarily in the financial services, industrial technology, health care and software industries. It owns equity stakes in several firms in the advisory space, including Mercer Advisors, Ascensus, ISS and Apex Fund Services.
Joining Moore on Cetera’s board are Genstar principals Tony Salewski and Sid Ramakrishnan, along with former Russell Investments vice chairman Hal Strong and former Charles Schwab & Co. executive vice president Ben Brigeman. Salewski noted that Genstar already was familiar with Cetera as a channel partner in the case of AssetMark and a customer as well. Some advisors at Mercer Advisors had a B-D relationship with Cetera.
