The asset and flow data figures don't include currency-hedged ETFs such as WisdomTree Japan Hedged Equity Fund (DXJ) and WisdomTree Europe Hedged Equity Fund (HEDJ). These are technically dividend-weighted and have seen inflows, but investors are using them for the currency hedge, not the dividend yield.

I am glad that these articles are starting to appear. It must mean that this is a buying opportunity for dividend funds. Dividend investing was the true first smart beta strategy. The academic literature proving and determining the reasons for the dividend anomaly dates back to the 1960s. It has survived the ups and downs of the market for decades. Even with the recent emphasis on growth, iSectors' dividend tilted Domestic Equity strategy is toward the top of the Morningstar ETF Strategies database for the last five years. When dividend strategies come back in favor, the few people in them will be rewarded.
