Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America has been named one of the best places to work for LGBT employees by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, Allianz announced Wednesday.
Allianz, based in Minneapolis, received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index compiled by the foundation. This year, 517 companies out of 1,043 that were rated received a perfect score.
The rating judges companies on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace equality. The rating also takes into consideration non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health-care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.
Allianz has employee-led groups known as Employee Resource Groups, one of which is devoted to diversity issues and is known as Encore. Encore promotes a safe workplace for LGBT employees, networks with other companies, participates in Twin Cities LGBT events and supports local and national equal rights initiatives.
