Mariner Wealth Advisors has acquired Scottsdale, Ariz.-based tax practice Hopkins Tameron Hostal PLLC, according to a news release.

Financial terms of the deal, which closed on January 31, were not disclosed.

Founded in 2017 by David Hopkins and Joe Tameron, Hopkins Tameron Hostal (HTH) provides personalized tax, consulting and wealth management services for individuals in various industries, including construction, real estate, manufacturing, hospitality, professional services, and technology, the release said. The firm and its 12 associates will support the advisors at Mariner Wealth Advisors’ offices in Scottsdale and Phoenix.

“It has always been our vision to provide our clients with national firm experience and knowledge, while still offering the individualized and personal attention they deserve,” Hopkins said in a statement. “Joining Mariner Wealth Advisors will accelerate our mission of turning vision into value for our clients, and we are excited to broaden the scope of services we’re able to provide with the firm’s support."

The addition of HTH marks the first acquisition in 2023 for Overland Park, Kan.-based Mariner Wealth Advisors and underscores the firm’s commitment to “providing clients with 360° wealth advice,” the release said.

“Hopkins and Tameron have demonstrated admirable success in their operations on both a national and independent scale,” said Marty Bicknell, CEO and president of Mariner Wealth Advisors. “I look forward to seeing this success translate into the team’s work with our advisors and clients in the greater Scottsdale and Phoenix area, as well as nationwide.”

Mariner Wealth Advisors was founded in 2006 with $300 million in assets under advisement. The firm and its affiliates now advise on over $105 billion in assets and has 84 locations nationwide.
