Baird, a multinational independent investment bank and financial services company headquartered in Milwaukee, has appointed Melanie Schmieding to the position of director of Baird Family Wealth in its Private Wealth Management Group, according to a news release.

In her new position, Schmieding will be based in Baird’s Denver office, and will work in partnership with Sarasota, Fla.-based director Jaleigh White, who played a key role in developing Baird’s new family wealth offering, the release said. Baird Family Wealth supports Baird advisor teams that focus their practices on clients with more complex financial lives, such as business owners and families with legacy wealth.

Schmieding most recently served as managing director at Abbott Downing, a Wells Fargo division that provides customized wealth management solutions to ultra-high-net-worth clients. She joined the firm in 2014 as a wealth advisor.

Established in 1919, Baird has approximately 4,600 associates and over $355 billion in client assets.
