“Miller offered ridiculously high returns and issued fake statements to clients,” Stoltman says.

Valerie Carter, an attorney representing Investors Capital, says the broker-dealer identified Miller as a rogue advisor. The firm has sent letters to clients in an attempt to determine what happened, she says.  

During the investigation, an FBI agent went to Miller’s office and found her slumped over her desk and unresponsive from something she had ingested. She had written a note to her son and husband that said she had deceived them by defrauding clients, according to the complaint.
