Dr. Eugenio Alemán, who was previously with the U.S. Department of Energy, has been hired by Raymond James Financial as chief economist to succeed Dr. Scott J. Brown, who is retiring, Raymond James announced yesterday.

Alemán was most recently chief economist with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. Before he was with the Department of Energy, Alemán was with Wells Fargo for 16 years.

Brown, who has been with Raymond James for 28 years, is credited with being a major contributor to Raymond James’s growth, helping to lead the firm through a wide range of economic conditions.
