Matthew Shafer, Mark Barber and Jeffrey Winkler will join Raymond James & Associates (RJA), Raymond James’ traditional employee broker-dealer, the company announced.

The advisor team operates as Shafer Barber Winkler Group of Raymond James. The trio managed $475 million in client assets with Morgan Stanley prior to the move to Raymond James.

The team is based in Boca Raton, Fla., and provides primarily fee-only financial planning services. The firm has two satellite offices in Boston and Grosse Pointe, Mich., according to the press release.

The team worked together in Boca Raton until 2009, when Barber moved to Boston and Winkler moved to Grosse Pointe to develop the firm’s satellite locations.

Joseph Danley, investment portfolio associate, and Danielle D’Ambrosio, senior client service associate, will also join the team at Raymond James.

Shafer, managing director, started his career in financial services with PaineWebber in 1997 and continued after the firm was acquired by UBS. Shafer and his team moved to Smith Barney’s Citi Family Office Group in 2009, where he served as family wealth director. Morgan Stanley then acquired the firm and the group remained until the move to Raymond James. Shafer currently holds the certified investment management analyst (CIMA) and certified exit planning advisor (CEPA) designations.

Barber, vice president of wealth management, works out of the Boston and Boca Raton offices and has been in the financial services industry since 2001. He served as vice president of investments at UBS and, most recently, at Morgan Stanley.

Winkler is based in the Grosse Pointe office and began his career in the financial services industry in 2001. Prior to migrating to Raymond James, he served as vice president of wealth management at UBS and, most recently, Morgan Stanley.
