A former Merrill Lynch financial advisor managing about $800 million in client assets has joined RBC Wealth Management in Stuart, Fla., according to a news release.

Stephen P. McGovern, managing director, had been with Merrill Lynch for 12 years. Before that he worked for Citigroup Global Markets and UBS, according to BrokerCheck. He began his career in 1995 at Smith Barney. Joining him at RBC are senior registered client associates Donna M. Childress and Melanie Rivera.

“We were attracted to RBC Wealth Management’s entrepreneurial, smaller-firm culture, yet with the backing of a global financial leader,” McGovern said in a statement. “The firm also shares our fierce focus on acting in the best interests of clients.”

Kirstin Turner, RBC's South Atlantic complex director, said RBC is excited to welcome McGovern and his team to RBC. “Steve, Donna and Melanie are incredibly well-respected industry professionals who work diligently to provide the best service possible and develop deep relationships with their clients,” she said.

Founded in 1909, RBC Wealth Management (U.S.) has $528 billion in total client assets with more than 2,100 financial advisors operating in 181 locations in 42 states.
