Rockefeller Capital Management has landed a former Morgan Stanley team in North Carolina that handles $1.3 billion in assets under management, according to a news release today.

Variant Path Group, a 10-person team, will join the firm’s wealth management division Rockefeller Global Family Office, in Charlotte, and will report to Kristen Sario, Southeast divisional director of Rockefeller Global Family Office.

The team includes managing director and private advisor Taylor Barden; senior vice president, private advisor, and team chief investment officer Tory Raether; senior vice presidents and private advisors Kristen Richards, James Freeman, and C. Lee Ives III; vice presidents and private advisors Harper Hicks and James Waters; senior client associates Alyce Noonan and Maggi Brown; and wealth management analyst Ashley Haisch.

Variant Path Group was named to the Forbes list of 2024 Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams, with a rank of 32 out of 4,100 teams, the release said. According to the listing, the team manages $1.3 billion in AUM.

“The Charlotte area is one of the fastest growing in the United States and Variant Path Group brings deep ties to the community dating back more than 60 years,” Christopher Dupuy, president of Rockefeller Global Family Office, said in a statement. 

Noting that Charlotte is the nation’s second-largest banking center, Sario said, “Variant Path Group will play a central role in bringing the Rockefeller experience to a growing number of current and future clients.”

Variant Path Group is the fourth hire for Rockefeller this year and its second team based in Charlotte.

Established in 2018, Rockefeller Capital Management offers services in 30 markets across the U.S. and one in London. As of December 31, the firm was responsible for $122 billion in client assets across its three businesses, Rockefeller Global Family Office, Rockefeller Asset Management and Rockefeller Strategic Advisory.
