Skience, a Herndon, Va.-based fintech and wealth management consulting firm, announced on Thursday the hire of Marc Butler as its president and chief operating officer.

Butler most recently served as COO and managing director of BNY Mellon’s Albridge data management provider, the last in a series of leadership roles at BNY Mellon and Pershing.

All told, Butler brings 25 years of technology and wealth management experience to his new position. At Skience, he will oversee the firm’s business and technology teams.

“We are excited to welcome Marc to Skience,” said Skience CEO Sanjeev Kumar in released comments. “This is a significant milestone for Skience, and a vital part of a long-term strategic plan that positions us for aggressive growth and innovation in the coming years.”

Prior to an October 2019 rebranding, Skience was known as The Athene Group.
