Advisors can go to Summer School through Hartford Funds, a program launched Tuesday.

Summer School is a series of eight video classes focused on providing short lessons and advice for financial advisors about current and emerging client issues, Hartford Funds says.

“As the financial advice industry evolves to keep up with technology and generational shifts, Summer School helps to navigate those changes and challenges,” says John Diehl, senior vice president of strategic markets for Hartford Funds.

The first episode, The New Role of the Financial Advisor, premiered Tuesday and focuses on how advisors can holistically serve today’s dynamic clients. The segment addresses the importance of marrying quantitative investment performance with a thoughtful understanding of the client’s personal agenda to create a successful collaboration, Diehl says.

Future episodes will feature Hartford Funds’ practice management executives, as well as Dr. Joseph F. Coughlin, founder and director of the MIT AgeLab.

The episodes will cover how to engage the baby boomer generation, how to ignite interest in 401(k) plans, how to tailor programs to reach clients’ long-term goals, and how to effectively communicate with clients, among other topics.

Videos will be posted weekly on Hartford Funds’ Masters of Advice Institute (MAI) blog.
